31 AUGUST 2017 / The SNF supports a home-based intervention program for people with diagnosed dementia in the municipality of Patra and neighboring areas

The home-based holistic intervention program “Care for Dementia in the Community” (Φροντίζω για την Άνοια στην Κοινότητα), an initiative undertaken by the Corporation for Succor and Care of Elderly and Disabled – FRODIZO launches its first cycle.

The program includes the provision of free of charge, health, psychological and counseling support services, offered at home, to people over the age of 65 suffering from dementia, as well as to their caregivers. The services are provided on a weekly basis by a specialized scientific team comprised of a psychologist, a social worker, a nurse and other health professionals, with the purpose of promoting the physical, mental, emotional and psychological health of the patients, while facilitating a better understanding of the disease.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation supports, through a grant, the Corporation for Succor and Care of Elderly and Disabled – FRODIZO, which, since its establishment, has been focusing on the provision of healthcare services to people from vulnerable social groups and people with disabilities, as well as guidance for professionals, caregivers and volunteers in meeting the needs of these population groups.
