The Greek National Opera’s (GNO) new artistic program for the 2026/27 season, curated by Artistic Director Giorgos Koumendakis, will fill Stavros Niarchos Hall with important premieres, celebrated artists, new works, international collaborations, and ambitious new opera and dance productions, featuring renowned Greek and international stage directors, maestros, performers, and dancers.
In the official announcement of the 2026/27 program Koumendakis noted, “The 2026/27 season marks a new direction for the Greek National Opera’s repertoire, with important premieres and notable returns…. For the realization of this year’s program, our grand tour in the United States, and their longstanding support, I would like to thank the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and its Co-President, Andreas C. Dracopoulos. The distinctive relationship of mutual understanding and appreciation we have built has yielded significant results for the GNO and its international presence.”
The artistic program for the 2026/2027 season is supported through a two-year SNF grant to further support the organization’s artistic outreach in Greece and abroad, following the completion of a four-year SNF grant (2019-2023) also to bolster the GNO’s artistic outreach and support the development of targeted artistic co-productions, residencies, and international tours.
