For over 25 years, we have made grants to thousands of nonprofit organizations around the world. In this work, we’ve been guided by openness to the excellent ideas of people close to the issues, by collaboration with partners we respect immensely, and by a desire to create transformative change whose benefits multiply and are shared widely across society. Our mission is broad by design, encompassing grants to nonprofit organizations across its four program areas of Arts and Culture, Education, Health and Sports, and Social Welfare.

We always try to keep our eyes wide open, and be optimistic that we all have the tools -among them collaboration and respect, openness and flexibility - to create lasting positive change, always keeping our humanity at the center.
Andreas C. Dracopoulos
SNF Co-President

By designating a significant part of his estate to establish SNF, Stavros S. Niarchos created an enduring means to enrich the lives of others worldwide.

We believe that the solutions to the national, regional, and global challenges we face demand the free exchange of ideas and thought, and that everyone should have a voice in shaping the policies that affect them.

Since 1996

Over the past quarter-century, SNF has formed thousands of partnerships with nonprofits around the world, seeking to help create lasting positive impact for society in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and sports, and social welfare.

The Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation for Charity (also known as Stavros Niarchos Foundation or SNF) is incorporated in Bermuda to operate as a nonprofit organization for charitable purposes and has offices in New York, Monaco, and Athens. SNF was endowed exclusively through a bequest from its founder, Stavros S. Niarchos, does not solicit or accept donations from individuals, corporations, or other organizations and does not engage in any commercial activity. SNF is audited by Grant Thornton and complies with all applicable laws and regulations in all relevant jurisdictions. SNF, in collaboration with its auditors, Grant Thornton, periodically performs sample grantee audits in relation to the financial and overall management of SNF’s grants.
