New FDNY Fire Zone will Help Kids be Prepared for Emergency
07 October 2020

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) has inaugurated a state-of-the-art new educational facility to help teach kids how to react in a fire emergency.

At the FDNY Fire Zone, kids can practice crawling safely through a smoke-filled hallway, experience a multimedia fire simulator, and leave prepared to eliminate hazards and create an escape plan at home.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) provided support for the creation of the new Fire Zone through a grant to the FDNY Foundation.

SNF has also made grants to the FDNY Foundation to support diversity training for the FDNY and, most recently, to help supply personal protective equipment for FDNY personnel on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
