ARTWORKS Announces the Participants in the 2nd SNF Artist Fellowship Program
10 June 2019

Every artist should have the time, the freedom, and the financial means to pursue their art. ARTWORKS is here to create the right conditions for Greek artists, offering them financial support and opportunities to showcase their work through the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Artist Fellowship Program.

After the open call for the second round of Fellows in early February 2019, the moment everyone was waiting for has finally arrived: the announcement of the names of the 75 artists* (visual artists, filmmakers, and dancers-choreographers) and five curators who will receive a monetary prize for eight months from September 2019 to May 2020. The suspense ends here.

Until next year, when we will have the opportunity to see the work of the second round participants up close, we would like to suggest that when you arrive at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) for the Summer Nostos Festival (23-30 June) you take the time to visit the exhibition and the screening program organized by ARTWORKS. It features paintings, sounds, installations, video art, photographs, and short films by the 60 young Greek artists who took part in the first round. We would love to hear what you think of it.

ARTWORKS was created in 2017 with an exclusive founding grant from SNF in order to provide fertile ground for Greek artists as part of the Foundation’s Recharging the Youth initiative. The SNF Artist Fellowship Program is a core activity of ARTWORKS and aims to recognize and encourage young artists’ professional development.

*The SNF is not involved in the process of candidate selection and evaluation, for which ARTWORKS is solely responsible.
