Contemporary Murals in the Traditional Village of Vamvakou
20 January 2021

Three early-career visual artists, all alumni of the first Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) ARTWORKS Artist Fellowship Program, spent some time this July in the Greek village of Vamvakou through the Artist Residence Program organized by Vamvakou Revival. Yasonas Megoulas (aka Cacao Rocks), Alexandros Simopoulos, and Pavlos Tsakonas studied the history of the village and created three murals, landmarks in the making, opening a discussion on the use of the public space and its relationship to nature and art.

The Artist Residency Program was organized by Vamvakou Revival as part of the initiative to revitalize the village supported by Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
