17 JANUARY 2018 / SNF Artist Fellowship Program by ARTWORKS

ARTWORKS, a new organization that aims to provide financial aid to Greek artists, aged 25 to 35, and encourage their professional development, has launches its operation with a founding grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

The fellowship program began with the SNF's initiative aiming to build on counterpart programs implemented abroad and transfer best practices for the benefit of artists in Greece.
The project is part of the SNF’s Recharging The Youth grant initiative, which focuses on supporting and empowering Greece’s younger generation, by opening up new opportunities for training and acquiring skills.

ARTWORKS’ first SNF Artist Fellowship Program will support 60 artists—for a period of 6 months—who are active in the field of fine arts and moving image.
Each artist will receive €6,000 euros and will also have the opportunity to participate in seminars, workshops and masterclasses by distinguished professionals, in order to develop additional skills and exchange ideas.

Over time, ARTWORKS seeks to build a dynamic network among participating artists, which will continue to provide support, even after completion of the artists’ participation in the program. The organization also aims to develop collaborations with other cultural institutions, which could lead to new opportunities for artists, so that they may broaden their artistic activities in Greece and abroad. Applications for the first cycle of the Program will open on January 5 and close on January 26, 2018.
