08 May 2019

On Wednesday, May 8, PEN America will host “Exposure: On Writing in Prison” as part of its World Voices Festival taking place from May 6 to 12 in New York City. The event explores the risks incurred by incarcerated writers and the tension inherent in writing done in prison but destined for readers outside.

The event, supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, is free to attend and will take place at The People’s Forum. Participants include authors, activists, and poets.

PEN America is a non-profit organization that works to protect the freedom to write, as both a literary and human rights imperative. PEN America counted among its founding members in 1922 Willa Cather, Robert Frost, and Eugene O’Neill.
