Andreas Dracopoulos honored by global child and adolescent health organization

Jul 05, 2026
The International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions recently honored Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos at its 27th World Congress in Hamburg.

Andreas received the International Contribution Award, which is based on a public nomination process and designed to recognize “the accomplishments of a senior individual who has made outstanding contributions” to child and adolescent mental health in low- and middle-income countries.

The SNF Global Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the Child Mind Institute, which seeks to expand access to quality mental health care for young people as part of SNF’s Global Health Initiative (GHI), prioritizes listening to what young people themselves have to say about their mental health. The Global Center is guided by the voices of young people through a Global Youth Advisory Council, and in Greece, a youth engagement effort related to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Initiative has engaged over 13,000 young people from all backgrounds.

Among much else, the Global Center offers clinical fellowships bringing psychiatry professionals from Mozambique to train in Brazil and from Kenya to train in South Africa; research fellowship in Kenya, Pakistan, Mexico, Jordan, Nigeria, and India; and mental health communicator fellowships in Burundi, Pakistan, Brazil, and South Africa.
