The Dancing Fountains at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC) Canal continue to enchant visitors every day, with choreographies to melodies by composers including Hadjidakis and Shostakovich.
In November, two new choreographies to music by Czech Romantic composer Antonín Dvořák and Greek National Opera (GNO) Artistic Director Giorgos Koumentakis join the already rich repertoire of the water shows.
The water installation was created at the initiative and with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). It was presented in full form in July 2019 at a special event held in collaboration with the GNO, during which live music by the GNO Orchestra accompanied the Dancing Fountains.
The Fountains’ repertoire includes choreographies to the following works:
Nikos Skalkottas, Epirot Dance (Ser. I/4), from the 36 Greek Dances
Dmitri Shostakovich, Waltz II, from the Suite for Jazz Orchestra No. 2
Manos Hadjidakis, Dance with my Shadow, from Gioconda’s Smile
George Bizet, Habanera, from Carmen Suite, No. 2
Giorgos Koumentakis, Serra
Antonín Dvořák, Furiant, Dance No.1 in C major, from the Slavonic Dances, Op. 46
