Through gorges, on forest roads, and along hiking trails, the route of the Vamvakou Mountain Run gains nearly a kilometer in altitude—from 950 meters to 1600 meters—though an idyllic and varied mountain landscape. The fourth edition of the run, starting and finishing in the village of Vamvakou, will take place on Sunday, June 16.
The Vamvakou Mountain Run is organized by Vamvakou Revival as part of the effort to revive the village with support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). This year, for the first time, three routes of 28, 18, and 7 kilometers are available. Last summer, more than 380 runners from Athens, Sparta, Kalamata, Tripoli, and the wider Peloponnese participated in the event.
Run in the fresh mountain air among the verdant paths of Mount Parnon and experience the natural wealth of the region.
