The Chatham House Prize honors an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to improving international relations. Through a longstanding relationship with Chatham House, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has provided extensive support for its work, and representatives of the Foundation attended the event in London.
SNF has provided significant support for the work of Chatham for over a decade. In 2014, Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh inaugurated the Queen Elizabeth II Academy for Leadership in International Affairs, in which SNF has permanently endowed the Academy Stavros Niarchos Foundation Fellowship. In 2017, Prince Harry of Wales inaugurated the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Floor at Chatham House. Later that year, SNF Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos joined a panel discussion at Chatham House on the topic of “Exiting the Echo Chamber.”
Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, is a non-profit organization that seeks to supply the intellectual building materials needed to construct just and prosperous societies. It engages governments, NGOs, universities, corporations, and other stakeholders through debate, independent research, and policy innovation.
The Committee to Protect Journalists is a nonprofit organization that seeks to give journalists the freedom to do good reporting work without fear. Responding to threats to the practice of journalism worldwide, SNF has also sought to support journalists through its grant-making, including with the Mass Media Scholarship Program at Columbia University and the Practicum in Modern Journalism hosted by the Center for International Studies. Most recently, during its September’s DIALOGUES event, the SNF announced the establishment of a nonprofit organization, aiming to promote education in subjects related to the field of Journalism, as well as the organized support of activities to enhance the transparency, validity and independence of Journalism.
