As part of the program, refugees and young people from reception countries are being trained in filmmaking techniques and documentary production through intensive workshops and seminars by renowned filmmakers and teachers. The trainings are held at schools, universities and refugee asylums.
Home New Home is being implemented in five main reception countries, including Greece, where the program is run by the Educational Institute for Documentaries “History Doc”, with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
In Athens, the seminars took place as part of the “Open Schools” program of the Municipality of Athens, exclusively supported by the SNF.
During the Press Conference, a short film, titled “AJIN”, made by the teachers of the elementary school of Moria on Lesvos, will be screened. The film captures the experience of a Syrian girl with her fellow Greek classmates.
