On Monday, December 6, Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos was sworn in as an Honorary Battalion Chief of the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY). The position of Honorary Battalion Chief is the highest civilian award granted by the FDNY, given in recognition of exceptional contributions an individual has made to the FDNY.
In addition to Andreas’s personal support for the FDNY’s lifesaving work, SNF has partnered with the FDNY Foundation to enhance public safety and support those on the front lines of emergencies in New York City. SNF was particularly honored to help support the new FDNY Fire Zone, which opened in 2020 to help teach schoolchildren and families critical skills for how to react in a fire emergency. The same year, as part of its $100 million global COVID-19 relief initiative, SNF helped make sure FDNY first responders had the personal protective equipment they needed to keep themselves safe.
We are all deeply honored by the recognition and thank the FDNY and FDNY Foundation for their partnership.
