For building an endowment for core staff and operational activities at the Ancient World Mapping Center.  The Ancient World Mapping Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill promotes cartography and geographic information science as essential disciplines within the field of ancient studies. The staff and affiliates of the Center work to advance the study of the ancient world through innovative and collaborative research, teaching, and community outreach activities using cartography, spatial science, geographic information science and historical geography.  The Center was created in 2000 to leverage the success of the Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World.
