The Public Theater

Program support

For The Public Theater’s Education and Community Partnership Programs, which serve students and young people throughout the New York City area.  Some of the signature programs include Shakespeare Lab, Shakespeare Lab Jr., and the Summer ShakeUp.

The Public Theater was founded by Joe Papp in 1954 with the belief that Shakespeare belongs to everyone.  The Public has championed non-traditional casting in its presentations at its facility in the East Village of Manhattan as well as at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.  Shakespeare in the Park, which reaches an extremely broad audience, is The Public Theater’s distinctive program.  Tickets are distributed for free in neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs.
