For expanding a free and low-cost theater ticket program for disadvantaged public school children in the metropolitan New York area. The show’s format is a child-friendly collage of short funny plays, ragtime music, songs, dances, audience participation, mime, and painting and drawing on stage. The performers use everyday experiences of the children to create a meaningful theater event.

Founded in 1958, The Paper Bag Players are a company of adults who create and perform original theater for young children. Their shows include short plays, dances, audience participation, mime, painting and drawing on stage.
