Rocking the Boat

Program support

To support a collaboration with the Stevens Institute of Technology to construct a full-scale replica of Colonel John Stevens’ Little Juliana.

Founded in 1996, Rocking the Boat works with low-income high school students in after-school and summer programs. The organization teaches students how to build boats from scratch and how to navigate and sail them. The students use the vessels they build to learn about environmental restoration issues in the Bronx and East Rivers. The community rowing program provides free, weekly opportunities to row on the Bronx River to hundreds of community residents of all ages.
