Kloster St. Johann in Mustair


For renovating the Convent Müstair. Situated in a small valley below the Engadine, the 1200-year old abbey contains very interesting murals.

The Convent of Mustair contains a series of figurative murals, painted around 800 AD, along with frescoes and stucco work from the Romanesque period. The convent is characteristic of Christian monastic renovation during the Carolingian period. Since 1983 it has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
