For an inpatient rehabilitation center, the Stavros Niarchos Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit. The unit is one of the few well organized sites operating outside Athens that provides vital services to patients who have undergone surgery or major treatment in various clinics, such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, neurology, general surgery, rheumatology and pathology. The Center consists of twenty two double-bed wards and serves the town of Ioannina and the wider area of Epirus. It provides all forms of physical therapy, including kinesthesiology, occupational therapy, speech therapy and breathing exercises, as well as social services for social reintegration and psychological support.
