This grant supports research to examine the ways the Group of Eight countries—France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, the United States, Canada, and Russia—currently formulate and implement policies related to Africa, as well as to identify concrete examples of how engagement with African states can lead to improved development outcome. The published findings will propose improvements in such policies and highlight lessons learned from the engagement of emerging powers with African states.
