A conversation on the SNFCC as a model of public space and public-private partnership

Feb 19, 2022
To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) delivering the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) to the Greek state and the public, the SNFCC organized five days full of celebratory events and activities for all audiences from February 19 to 23.

The festivities also included a public discussion on how the SNFCC can serve as a model public space and a prime example of a successful public-private partnership. The discussion was held on Saturday, February 19, at the SNFCC Lighthouse and featured SNF Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos and SNFCC Managing Director Elly Andriopoulou. The Greek prime ministers who were in office from the conception of the idea for the creation of the SNFCC onward had also been invited to participate, namely: K. Karamanlis, George A. Papandreou, Antonis Samaras, Alexis Tsipras, and Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, who also represented the government, and Greek Parliament member Effie Achtsioglou, on behalf of Syriza Progressive Alliance, participated in the discussion. George Papandreou sent a short greeting via video.

The discussion was coordinated by Ares Kalandides an urban planner and visiting professor at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK.
