You Are Here, a Lincoln Center Commission through the SNF-LC Agora Initiative, Mirrors Return to Live Experiences in NYC
03 May 2021

To begin, 25 sculptures in the midst of an “aural garden” at Lincoln Center’s outdoor campus will present audio portraits of 25 New Yorkers. Over time, these representations will be replaced by the real thing—live performances by the people themselves. You Are Here, a project created by GALLIM choreographer and artistic director Andrea Miller, will be presented this summer through Restart Stages, part of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation-Lincoln Center (SNF-LC) Agora Initiative.

“Andrea Miller’s innovative concept for Lincoln Center is a powerful demonstration of the SNF-LC Agora Initiative’s vision for transforming public spaces into active creative incubators,” said SNF Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos of the announcement. “This sort of communal project is exactly the antidote we need for the isolation of the past year.”

The sculptures featured in You are Here will be designed by Mimi Lien, the creator of “The GREEN,” a park-like installation coming to Lincoln Center’s central plaza.

Restart Stages aims to transform Lincoln Center’s campus into a hub of arts access and civic engagement, with ten new outdoor venues hosting music and dance performances, film screenings, cultural events, a reading room, and public services like food bank distributions. It is made possible through the SNF-LC Agora Initiative, a collaboration to reactivate and reimagine public space in a new era for which SNF provided support as part of its $100 million global COVID-19 relief initiative.
