Pavlos Ioannidis was a truly unique man, who stood out both for his intellect and perception as well as for his ethos and integrity. His contributions to the aviation and shipping sectors have been of paramount importance in their development on a global scale, and he was recognized and honored repeatedly for his work in these areas. He bravely defended his country by taking part in the Resistance against the German occupation, and he did not hesitate to return the King's Medal for Courage (KMC) of the British Empire, with which he had been honored, supporting his ideals and protesting the hanging of the Cypriot fighters of EOKA, Karaoli and Dimitriou. Through his participation in the work of the Onassis Foundation, as well as through his personal contributions, he transferred his many years and extensive business experience towards philanthropic causes, which aimed to contribute to the Greek society and the common good. We are grateful for the friendship we shared, which was based on mutual respect and honesty.
