Tällberg Foundation Announces Winners of 2020 Eliasson Global Leadership Prize

Nov 25, 2020
One is an oceanographer who champions conservation efforts. One is a human rights lawyer who uses the law to free political prisoners. And one is an engineer and social entrepreneur using data to improve and save lives.

Meet the winners of this year’s Tällberg Foundation Eliasson Global Leadership Prize, which honors leaders in any field whose work rooted in universal values and based on a truly global vision.

“Above all else, the inspiring work of these three remarkable leaders brings us hope when we need it most,” said SNF Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos. “The range of fields in which they work speaks to the vision of leadership the Prize represents, one that looks beyond traditional hierarchies to focus instead on real, positive outcomes for people and for our planet. On behalf of everyone at SNF, warmest congratulations to Jared Genser, Nithya Ramanathan, and Sylvia Earle.”

The Eliasson Global Leadership Prize is made possible through the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). The Prize is named for Swedish diplomat and former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Jan Eliasson, and each winner, selected from candidates nominated by the public, is awarded a $50,000 stipend.
