SNF Hellenic Studies Centers in LA and British Columbia Collaborate to Highlight a Fascinating Figure
21 October 2020

Eva Palmer Sikelianos lived such an extraordinary and unusual life in Greece that it’s still a subject of fascination 100 some years later.

On Sunday, October 25, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Center for the Study of Hellenic Culture at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) will host a talk on this countercultural American philhellene’s life given by a University of Michigan professor who has spent more than a decade researching it. The event, free with advance registration, is co-organized with the SNF Centre for the Study of Hellenic Culture at Simon Fraser University (SFU).

The collaboration between the two centers speaks to their shared mission of engaging the global communities of the Greek diaspora in their scholarly work.

The center at SFU, made possible through a significant grant from SNF, launched in 2011. The center at UCLA, which received a foundational $5 million grant from SNF, launched in 2020.
