Sophocles Starts Conversations on Frontline Medical Work and Policing
28 July 2020

Upcoming events from Theater of War Productions, a group known for facilitating honest conversations on difficult subjects, will use plays by Sophocles as the starting point for virtual discussions on timely topics: frontline health work in the context of a pandemic and community-police relations in the context of systemic racial injustice.

On July 30 at 7 p.m. EDT, Theater of War for Frontline Medical Providers will use readings from Ajax as an opening for health workers to discuss the stresses of practicing their profession during the pandemic. On August 9 at 8:30 p.m. EDT, the company will present Antigone in Ferguson as part of the 6th Annual Michael Brown Memorial Weekend. Both events are free and open to the public with advance registration.

Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has supported Theater of War since its establishment in 2009, including for a free ten-week run of Antigone in Ferguson in Brooklyn last summer.
