The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Congratulates the New “Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center S.A.” Board

Jun 18, 2020
Following the first meeting of the new Board of Directors of the “Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center S.A.”, all of us at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) congratulate the Board’s new members and wish them every success.
Our special congratulations go to new Managing Director Elly Andriopoulou, who, until accepting this new position, served as a valued member of the SNF team. Having previously served as the SNFCC’s Chief Operating Officer from 2014 to 2016, Elly knows as well as anyone the cultural center’s physical space, its vision, and, above all, its unlimited potential for growth and evolution.

On behalf of all those who have enjoyed the SNFCC over the years, we would like to thank the outgoing members of the Board—especially former Managing Director Nikos Manolopoulos—for their invaluable contributions to helping the SNFCC become a premier destination for culture, entertainment, recreation, and civic life.

As a standout example of culturally activated public space, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center quickly became a reference point for similar endeavors worldwide. It has been enthusiastically embraced by the public—not only by the local community in Athens and Greece, but by visitors from around the world. From the initial concept through its design, construction, completion, delivery as a gift from SNF to the Greek state, and continuing today, SNF has stood behind the vision and mission of the SNFCC. One annual €5,000,000 SNF grant to the SNFCC more than covers its organizational needs and annual operating costs, including the salaries of all employees, while another €5,000,000 grant covers events and educational programs.

We are certain that this exceptional institution will make ever-bigger strides towards the future. The positive impact the SNFCC has achieved results not only from the efforts of individuals, but from the collective hard work, collaboration, and shared belief in the project demonstrated by everyone involved. As the new Board continues to move the institution forward, SNF will be there too, ensuring that the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center remains a model of successful collaboration between the public and private sectors.
