SNFCC Makes it to the Front Page of Kappa Magazine in View of a Live Concert
13 May 2020

It’s the size of a football field, weighs as much as 160 buses, and generates energy—both electrical and artistic.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center’s (SNFCC) energy canopy graces the cover of this week’s issue of Kappa Magazine from Greek newspaper Kathimerini, which includes an in-depth feature on a highly anticipated new music project from the SNFCC. The energy canopy—the SNFCC’s highest point at 47 meters above sea level—offers an ideal setting for a virtual concert from composer Dimitris Kamarotos and mezzo-soprano Αnna Pagalou.

The composer talks about the inspiration he drew from using the canopy as a setting, a first in the SNFCC’s history: “At the highest point of the SNFCC, on the energy canopy, I felt literally elevated, somewhere between the sky and earth, amidst the city of Athens…. The sounds of the city, the air, the movements of the boats, even the habits of the birds that reach the city, have composed a unique moment.”

The concert, entitled Hovering, will be aired on May 16 at 20:00 (GMT+3) as part of #snfccAtHome, which consists mainly of new productions. The programming is supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
