A Journalistic Chronicle by iMEdD, Dedicated to all Those who Remain “Present”

Apr 30, 2020
They clean the streets, they perform surgeries, they distribute food, the collect the garbage, they provide medicine, they regulate traffic, they report on the news.
They stay on the streets. They stay at home. But they stay present. It is all of these people that iMEdD decided to focus on, through a multimedia project that it created, capturing the new reality during the COVID-19 period.

Aiming to capture a journalistic record of the historical moments we are going through, iMEdD activated its network of partners, asking them to “speak” through the “tool” that best expresses them. In just two weeks, acclaimed and award-winning journalists, photojournalists and videographers have created a series of narrative projects and documents, thus composing a record of the period we are going through. Texts, photos and videos will be on display in public places, hospitals and supermarkets, starting Thursday, April 30, reminding all of us that, while we were staying indoors, some people had to be outside.

The “present” ones will be located in, once crowded, parts of Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra, Volos and Heraklion, Crete, as well as on the parontes.imedd.org online platform, which hosts all the material of this journalistic record.

The incubator for Media Education and Development (iMEdD) is a nonprofit organization established in 2018 through an exclusive grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Aiming to promote transparency, credibility, independence, and excellence in the field of journalism, it opened its doors in early 2019 in Athens.
