Helping Those without a Home in Thessaloniki

Mar 24, 2020
While most in Thessaloniki are staying at home for the health of themselves and others, that’s not an option for everyone.

The Streetwork team is there for adults experiencing homelessness and unaccompanied children in the city, providing information on the spread of COVID-19, essential items, and personal protective equipment.

The Streetwork program is implemented by the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the nonprofit ARSIS with support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). In addition to Streetwork, the Municipality and ARSIS, in collaboration with Doctors of the World, also run the Restart program. This program, launched in April 2018 with support from SNF, aims to help 40 individuals and 15 families who are experiencing homelessness, are unemployed, or have very limited income reintegrate into society and the labor market. As part of the program, participants have access to psychosocial support and medical monitoring services, as well as job counseling services.
