January in Vamvakou!
20 December 2019

January means the holidays are over in Greece, but in the village of Vamvakou, there’s always a reason for festivities. Dozens of events and activities await visitors in January—as they do every month—in the Laconian mountain village.

For nature lovers, the trails on Mount Parnon are ideal for hiking, biking, and off-road tours. For people who love film and literature, the Vamvakou Revival team has organized movie screenings, literary evenings, and activities for families and children. In Vamvakou, there’s something for everyone!

The start of the new year also marks the beginning of two new collaborations. Vamvakou Revival is participating, for the first time, in the Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival and is launching a new partnership with Tipping Point. This organization, which has been supported in the past by a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), enables students across Greece to explore career options by interacting with professionals around the world through live video. In addition, January will mark the beginning of a new collaboration with the Greek National Opera.

The V.Lab (Vamvakou Technology Lab fully powered by SNF), the STEAM technology center, which opened at the village school in October, continue their free programs for kids on new technologies.

All events are organized as part of the Vamvakou Revival initiative, which is implemented with encouragement and financial support from SNF.
