TV5MONDE Broadcasts Live from the SNFCC

Parlez-vous français? For the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) the answer is “Oui!”

As an international landmark and an open public space for Greeks and visitors from all over the world, the SNFCC speaks many languages.

On Thursday, September 26, this multilingual milieu hosted the TV5MONDE show “Journey into Francophonie,” which broadcasted live from the SNFCC, with Alexia Kefala as a host.

The 18-hour show, with live broadcasts from dozens of countries around the world, highlights the French-speaking world and, consequently, the French language, its history, and its future. A tribute to the legacy of the Greek culture was presented during the live link to Athens and the SNFCC. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) took part in the show as creator of the SNFCC. Among the guests was Nana Mouskouri, an international artist who traveled to her hometown to pay tribute to the Francophonie.

The SNFCC’s design, construction, and full outfitting represents SNF’s single largest grant to date. In February 2017, SNF gave the SNFCC over to the people of Greece, announcing its commitment to continue actively supporting the SNFCC for the next five years, through grants totaling up to €50 million for public programming and the SNFCC’s operational costs.
