In Odyssey: The Chamber Music Society in Greece, which aired on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) on September 6, Live from Lincoln Center captures on-location performances in stunning venues around Greece. Concerts were recorded at the Church of Taxiarchon in Milies, the Church of St. Constantine and Helen in Volos, the ancient amphitheater of Larissa, and Delphi.
The program also includes a performance at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens. The SNFCC, designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, was created through SNF’s largest single grant to date and was given to the Greek people in 2017. The people of Greece and visitors from around the world have made the SNFCC their own, and Live from Lincoln Center viewers will be invited in to do the same while enjoying a superb performance by the Chamber Music Society.
Local music students in the areas visited by the Chamber Music Society had the opportunity to attend master classes given by the professional musicians.
Odyssey: The Chamber Music Society in Greece will be available to stream on the PBS website until October 4, 2019. Live recordings of the performances are also available in an album available and streaming now.
