20 July 2019

As part of its ongoing work in the area of arts and culture, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) is supporting the preparation of a feasibility study for the renovation of the National Archaeological Museum of Athens and the surrounding area.

SNF’s decision to partner with the relevant parties to support this effort stems from the importance of the museum, which houses some of the most significant archaeological treasures of Greece. The decision also parallels the SNF’s philosophy of supporting projects aimed at preserving and promoting cultural heritage, both in Greece and internationally.

The ultimate aim of this study is to provide a reliable assessment of all aspects of the potential project’s execution. The prospective renovations would aim to make the Museum an even greater attraction for visitors from all over the world in the long run, to offer a comprehensive educational and cultural experience, and to improve the quality of life of people living and working in the vicinity.
