Greek Dancers and Choreographers Plug into European Scene

Jul 04, 2019
Through “Return trip: a new horizon of opportunities for contemporary Greek dance,” Greek choreographers and dancers have the chance to connect with the wider European dance scene, in collaboration with Fondazione Nazionale della Danza, known as Aterballetto.
Aterballetto is a contemporary dance and ballet center and touring company based in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

The initiative included opportunities for three Greek choreographers—Christos Papadopoulos, Patricia Apergi, and Euripides Laskaridis—to present their shows in several locations in Italy, including Milan and Reggio Emilia, while also sharing their practice with Italian artists at the Aterballeto company’s premises. It is also an opportunity for 18 early-career Greek dancers to develop their practice and receive mentoring through a scholarship with Aterballetto’s dedicated young dance company group.

An open rehearsal demonstration held in Athens on July 8 as part of the Athens Festival will showcase the program.
