The MMU set up a fully equipped clinic in Mantoudi to offer free exams to local residents, including, among others, ultrasounds, mammography and Pap tests.
The Mobile Medical Units are the result of an initiative undertaken by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and carried out, with the exclusive support of the SNF, by the NGO Regeneration & Progress, in collaboration with Health Units SA. On each mission to islands and isolated areas of Greece, the Mobile Medical Units are accompanied by doctors, qualified nursing and technical staff, and medical school students, among others.
Since the launch of the program in January 2014, a total of 47 missions to remote areas of Greece have been completed. The aim of the program is to ensure equal access to high-quality health services for all residents of the country.
