The Mobile Medical Units Continue to Travel Across Evia
17 May 2019

Lately, the Mobile Medical Units (MMU) have a very busy schedule. Just three days after coming back from the island of Amorgos, the Units together with all the doctors, nurses and technical staff headed for North Evia, with Mantoudi as their final destination.

They remained there for three days, from May 13 to 16.

The MMU set up a fully equipped clinic in Mantoudi to offer more than 1000 medical appointments and free exams to 476 local residents, including, among others, 397 ultrasounds, 126 mammography and 62 Pap tests.

The Mobile Medical Units are the result of an initiative undertaken by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and carried out, with the exclusive support of the SNF, by the NGO Regeneration & Progress, in collaboration with Health Units SA. On each mission to islands and isolated areas of Greece, the Mobile Medical Units are accompanied by doctors, qualified nursing and technical staff, and medical school students, among others.

Since the launch of the program in January 2014, a total of 48 missions to remote areas of Greece have been completed. The aim of the program is to ensure equal access to high-quality health services for all residents of the country.
