Former FC Barcelona Players visit FutbolNet Clinics in Lesbos

The Barça Foundation’s FutbolNet program uses the game of soccer and other sport activities to give young people a chance to exercise agency, take responsibility, include others, and collectively reflect on all of it.

With support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), the program has expanded to serve populations in Greece, Lebanon, and Italy with the aim of bringing together refugee and local children on the playing field.

On March 7th to 9th, former FC Barcelona players and representatives from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the Barça Foundation joined FutbolNet clinics on the Greek island of Lesbos. Approximately 400 kids between the ages of six and seventeen took part in the clinics led by trainers from the Barça Foundation.

Former FC Barcelona players Jordi Ferrón Forne, Laia Fusté, Esther Torrecilla, and Joan Garcia took part in the visit and witnessed the inauguration of a new soccer field near the Kara Tepe refugee camp.
