The discussion is organized on the occasion of the Italian Design Day 2019 and within the framework of its cultural initiative Tempo Forte Italy – Greece 2019, and will explore further the ways in which architectural projects (such as SNFCC) can change the future of cities and improve people’s quality of life. Giorgio Bianchi, architect and partner at Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW) that has conducted the architectural design of SNFCC, will be the keynote speaker. The event will also include a panel discussion with academics and professionals in architecture and construction industry.
The SNFCC’s design, construction, and complete outfitting is the largest single grant of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation to date. In February, 2017, following the completion of the SNFCC’s construction, the SNF delivered the SNFCC as a gift to the Greek state, which has gradually become a landmark, a public space open to all. In 2018 alone, the SNFCC received more than 5 million visits. SNF has announced its commitment to continue supporting the SNFCC for the following years, until 2022, through grants for the implementation of public programming and to cover the SNFCC’s operational costs.
