The Administration Handover Ceremony for the largest military hospital of the country, the 401 Military Hospital of Athens, took place on Wednesday, March 20, at its headquarters.
As part of the ceremony, Major General Panayiotis Kotileas handed over his duties to Major General Panayiotis Takos, in the presence of the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force and Ambassador Vassilis Kaskarelis, Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
As part of its grantmaking activity, the SNF has provided a €5 million grant for the restoration and expansion, including the purchase of equipment, of the Radiotherapy Department of the 401 Military Hospital of Athens. The SNF grant covers, among other things, the purchase and installation of two new state-of-the-art linear accelerators. In the past, the SNF has also allocated a €1.7 million grant for the complete renovation of the Hellenic Army Academy’s five dormitory buildings and for the Academy’s educational programs, specifically the participation of Cadets and Officers in foreign-exchange programs and M.A. degrees offered in collaboration with the United States Military Academy at West Point.
