05 FEBRUARY 2019 / iMEdD Begins Work Promoting Journalistic Excellence

At the beginning of February, the new non-profit organization iMedD (incubator for Media Education and Development) announced the start of its operations, through an exclusive grant of Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Based in Athens, iMedD’s mission is to promote transparency, accuracy, independence, meritocracy, and excellence in journalism.

Its activity aligns along two main axes, the Ideas Zone and the incubator. The Ideas Zone program is intended for journalism students, graduates, and professionals and includes presentations by experienced professionals in the field of journalism from Greece and abroad, as well as from representatives of the Greek and international academic community. The first three-month thematic cycle, titled “The Day after: New models, new tools, different reality,” will begin on April 1st, 2019.

The iMEdD incubator will host for three to nine months existing organizations (both for-profit and non-profit), groups, or individuals who wish to create a new organization or implement an innovative project. The goal is to support and embrace new ideas by offering the necessary know-how, strategic guidance, and networking opportunities to make their projects come to life. The incubator will start hosting participants on April 1st, 2019.
