29 NOVEMBER 2018 / The Co-Museum Conference on Synergies Between Museums, Cultural Initiatives and Civil Society

On Thursday November 29th, the Benaki Museum, the U.S. Embassy in Athens and the British Council, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Athen, organized the conference “The Co-Museum: Synergies, coalitions and partnerships between museums, cultural initiatives, civil society and beyond.”

Greek and international speakers shared their knowledge and experience in diverse, cross-sector partnerships in order to examine how the latter can help cultural organizations to achieve sustainability, outreach and audience development. The Conference highlighted examples of synergies and partnerships from the U.S., the UK, Germany and Greece.

As part of the Conference, a collaborative event, entitled “Museum World Café: Launching Synergies for Cultural and Civil Society Professionals” took place. Discussion groups brought together representatives of the cultural sector to exchange ideas and discuss the challenges related to synergies within the cultural ecosystem. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) participated in a discussion group that focused on public-private partnerships.
