SNF Representatives Visit Technical Projects at Municipality of Thessaloniki

On Tuesday, November 8th, SNF representatives visited a number of the technical projects being implemented in the Municipality of Thessaloniki as part of the SNF’s € 10 million grant.

During the visit, in which they were accompanied by the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. Yiannis Boutaris, the president of the city council, Mrs. Calypso Goula, and the vice-mayor of Technical Projects and Environment, Mr. Thanassis Pappas, the SNF representatives were informed about the progress being made on projects concerning the reconstruction of playgrounds, the development of a route connecting major monuments in the city, the reconstruction of the space surrounding the Yad Lezikaron Synagogue as well as the development of the “Ianos” Addict Relief Centre.

The technical projects which will take place as part of the SNF grant include further more the reconstruction of the Phanarioton Square as well as securing access and highlighting of buildings of special interest such as the Jewish Museum and the Yeni Mosque.

The SNF grant to the Municipality of Thessaloniki, apart from the infrastructure projects also includes support for housing programs and programs combating homelessness, the implementation of technological and cultural innovation programs and the the implementation of educational programs.
