Dorrance Dance and 500 Kids at Guggenheim Rotunda Performance
06 November 2018

On Thursday, November 1st, Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) representatives attended performance by Dorrance Dance at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the latest installment of the Works & Process Rotunda Projects series.

Works & Process is a project of the Guggenheim that gives unprecedented access to leading artists through performance and conversation. The Rotunda Projects series, with support from SNF, brings these performances into the museum’s iconic rotunda space. The series provides artistic commissions, site-specific residences, and a platform for innovative new works.

Through collaboration with Learning Through Art, which places teaching artists in school-based residencies, 500 students will also attend the Dorrance Dance performance. Education Demonstrations for the students will precede and follow the dance performance. SNF has provided repeated support for Learning Through Art.

In September, the Rotunda Projects premiered Danill Simkin: Falls the Shadow. Earlier this fall, SNF announced support for an initiative to offer free admission to the Guggenheim for students, faculty, and staff at five City University of New York schools, as part of the museum’s University Membership pilot program.
