09 NOVEMBER 2018 / Applications for the Second Round of the “New Agriculture for a New Generation” Program Have Opened

With the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s (SNF) exclusive support, the “New Agriculture for a New Generation” program supports the next generation of Greek farmers by offering them the opportunity to attend free training programs in six different areas of the agricultural sector.

The three-year project, which is implemented by Rutgers University-New Brunswick, in partnership with the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) and American Farm School (AFS) in Thessaloniki, aims at stimulating Greece’s youth employment and entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.

The interdisciplinary team from Rutgers, AUA, and AFS targets key agricultural sub-sectors and provides existing and new farmers with the training and tools required in order to assist them in improving their cultivating methods and developing quality products.

In its first round, 700 young people have participated in the program in 30 areas across Greece.

The “New Agriculture for a New Generation” program is made possible through a grant by SNF, as part of its “Recharging The Youth” grant initiative, which aims to open-up employment opportunities for the younger generation in Greece.
