“Train the Trainers” Workshops, as part of the “New Agriculture for a New Generation” Project, Supported by SNF

Oct 12, 2018
Between October 12th and 14th, 2018, the first round of a series of “Train the Trainers” workshops will be conducted in the area of Pieria, within the framework of the “New Agriculture for a New Generation” program.

The latter is made possible with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s exclusive support, aiming to stimulate Greece’s youth employment and entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector. The workshops will prepare the trainers of the program with critical skills in adult education, while fostering a sense of community among the participants.

The three-year project is implemented by Rutgers University-New Brunswick, in partnership with the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) and American Farm School (AFS) in Thessaloniki. The interdisciplinary team from Rutgers, AUA, and AFS targets key agricultural sub-sectors and provides existing and new farmers with the training and tools required in order to assist them in improving their cultivating methods and developing quality products. In its first year of operation, 700 young people have already participated in the program in 30 areas across Northern Greece.

The “New Agriculture for a New Generation” project is made possible through a grant by SNF, as part of its “Recharging The Youth” grant initiative, which aims to open-up employment opportunities for the younger generation in Greece.
