Oct 31, 2018
On Wednesday, October 31st, 2018, the General Hospital of Grevena held an event for the inauguration of its renovated Renal Dialysis Unit. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), as part of its Initiative Against the Greek Crisis, supported the procurement of dialysis machines and additional medical equipment needed for the proper operation of the Unit.

Through its Initiative Against the Greek Crisis, which is now complete, the SNF supported social welfare programs across Greece, aiming to provide relief against the severe effects of the country’s socioeconomic crisis.

With the Initiative Against the Greek Crisis almost complete and in addition to its ongoing grants, the SNF has now turned its attention to the implementation of its new Health Initiative, which includes seven new individual grants, with the aim to further support the Health Sector in Greece. The total budget for the initiative is expected to exceed $290 million (€250 million).

The SNF’s Health Initiative embraces three major infrastructure interventions across Greece, each designed by the internationally renowned architectural firm Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW), the reinforcement of the National Center for Emergency Care (EKAV) air ambulance services, the procurement of new medical equipment, as well as the establishment of educational programs.
