Opening of the Renzo Piano: The Art of Making Buildings Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London

Sep 12, 2018
From September 15th, 2018, until January 20th, 2019, the Royal Academy of Arts presents a large exhibition, entitled “Renzo Piano: The Art of Making Buildings”, dedicated to the work and career of the internationally renowned architect, Renzo Piano. The exhibition is held by the Royal Academy of Arts, as part of its 250th anniversary, in collaboration with the Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW) and the Fondazione Renzo Piano.

Focused on Renzo Piano’s 16 most iconic buildings, the exhibition features RPBW’s architectural projects from the last thirty years and provides insights into the creative process through which they were generated, from the architect’s vision to construction. Architectural enthusiasts and visitors of the exhibition will have the opportunity to enjoy a collection of rarely seen drawings, sketches, architectural models, photographs, and full-scale maquettes, delving into different aspects of the architect’s work.

One of RPBW’s most recent works, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), which was made possible with an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, is also part of the major retrospective exhibition of Renzo Piano’s work.
