01 AUGUST 2018 / The SNF Supports the 12th Edition of the ASCEN-DANSE Festival “Vertical’été”

From July 27th to July 29th, 2018, the 12th annual ASCEN-DANSE festival “Vertical’été” took place in Mont Dauphin, France. This innovative festival produces vertical arts and contemporary dance within the Vauban fortification of Mont Dauphin, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), this three-day event featured nine programs, included the participation of 29 artists, and attracted about 1,000 visitors, establishing a strong link between the audience, dancers, choreographers and volunteers. The SNF has previously supported the 10th and 11th editions of the festival in 2016 and 2017.

Created in 2006, “Vertical’été” democratizes dance by offering performances for all age groups. In addition, it allows local and national artists to develop their dance creations in a majestic setting with the involvement of the local population, and has a significant cultural and economic impact for this mountain region.
